Preventing Your TV From Being Stolen

If being able to keep your friends and family members entertained is important to you, then you probably have invested in a high-quality television. Having a great TV in your home allows you to watch sporting events, movies, and your favorite television series with confidence. Unfortunately, as the value of televisions increases, these electronic items have become a target for criminals.

Here are three simple things that you can do to prevent your TV from being stolen in the future.

1. Prevent your TV from being seen from the sidewalk.

One of the easiest things that you can do to deter a criminal from attempting to steal your TV is to make sure that your television can't be seen from the sidewalk. If you don't present a visible target, a thief may not be willing to break into your home.

Try moving your television to a room with windows facing your backyard, or install curtains that you keep drawn to prevent passersby from peeking into your home and getting a glimpse of your expensive TV.

2. Install motion detectors around your home's perimeter.

If a criminal is trying to gain access to your home in order to steal your TV, he or she will not want to draw the attention of neighbors or people passing your home on the street. Taking the time to invest in some motion detectors can be a great way to protect your TV (and your other assets) from being stolen.

Be sure that you install motion detectors on all the doors and windows of your home, and ensure that these detectors produce an audible alarm when triggered. If a criminal hears the alarm going off, it's more likely that he or she will abandon any attempt to break into your home to steal your TV in order to avoid being caught.

3. Invest in a locking wall mount.

Many homeowners opt to mount their TV to a wall in their home. This can be a great design choice, but it can also improve the safety of your television when you invest in an anti theft TV wall mount.

A locking wall mount features brackets that attach to the back of your TV. These brackets are locked into place with a key that you can keep with you at all times. The TV cannot be separated from the wall mount when the brackets are locked, making it difficult for a criminal to take your TV.

Protecting your television from theft is critical when it comes to ensuring you always have access to entertainment within your home. Move your TV so that it can't be seen from the sidewalk, install motion detectors, and invest in a locking wall mount to provide maximum protection for your TV in the future.
