3 Business Locations That Could Benefit From RF Security Systems

For a lot of years, retailers have relied on RF security systems to keep shoplifting problems to a minimum. These systems, which involve using tags that emit a triggering radio frequency to set off an alarm at the door, work really well to deter thieves. Yet, not all that many business owners will consider RF systems as a viable option for their place of business. Beyond retail environments, there are many different types of establishments that could benefit from an RF security system. Here is a short list of a few of them.

Public Libraries

Public libraries rarely have a good security system in place, even down to basic surveillance. Many of these establishments are publically funded, which means there is often little funding available for security measures. The downside to this is books can be extremely expensive to replace. By outfitting the library with an RF security system and utilizing RF tags on the library cards that are inside of the book, you will know that people won't be able to walk out of the library with the books in the establishment without going through the checkout process.

Convenience Stores

Convenience stores are scattered across just about every city and location because they are always in high demand. While these stores tend to do a good job or monitoring for theft and even training employees to recognize theft activity, most of them do not have an integrated RF security system. Because most merchandise in these stores is not high-value, it is assumed that an RF system wouldn't be necessary. However, an RF system can be valuable for what little high-value merchandise you do have, especially since the high-value merchandise you likely carry is on fairly expensive, such as cell phone accessories, prepaid cell phones, and other items.

Pharmacies

While great care may be taken to protect the prescription medications behind the counter, there are items out beyond the counter that can be just as expensive and valuable in the eyes of shoplifters. Therefore, having an RF system in place in your pharmacy business is an excellent loss-prevention move to consider. Because so much attention is given to keeping prescription medications safe and secure, it is easy to neglect the other items and what shoppers are doing beyond the pick-up counter. An RF security system will deter theft in your pharmacy business even when you have little time to be observant.
